Little Grateful Hearts. Thanksgiving with an International Twist 🦃

This week, the preschool classrooms have been transformed into a space for gratitude and cultural celebration as they commemorate Thanksgiving in style. This initiative, led by English and native teachers, has allowed the little ones to immerse themselves in one of the most significant holidays in the United States, combining language learning with values education.

Over several days, the native teachers shared the history and customs of Thanksgiving with the pupils, explaining first-hand how it is celebrated in their countries of origin, from the traditional turkey to the spirit of giving thanks.

This cultural immersion served as the basis for a series of fun and educational activities. The children enthusiastically participated in creating various autumn- and turkey-themed crafts, using vibrant colours to represent the harvest and abundance. However, the central focus of the celebration was the work of gratitude. In the classroom, the pupils have engaged in a tender and profound reflection, learning to identify and verbalise what they are grateful for: family, friends, their toys and even their teachers.

A wonderful way to integrate English and, at the same time, teach children about gratitude and appreciation for the things they have. It’s a great way to bring the classroom to life and make learning fun.
