On Wednesday, 10 December 2025, our school proudly took part in the XVI Festival de Villancicos en Inglés, organised by UCETAM at the beautiful Teatro Josep Carreras in Fuenlabrada. The concert began at 18:00, bringing together only seven selected schools from the UCETAM network—an honour for our community and a wonderful opportunity for our students to shine.
A Night to Remember for Santa Gema
Representing Colegio Santa Gema Galgani, a group of 21 talented Primary students performed Walking in the Air, the iconic theme from The Snowman by Howard Blake. This cherished English storybook by Raymond Briggs tells the magical, wordless tale of a boy whose snowman comes to life at midnight, whisking him away on an unforgettable adventure across the winter skies. Our pupils captured this spirit beautifully through their expressive singing and instrumental ensemble, which featured two violins and a viola.
The choir was led by our Primary music teacher, Laura Herreros de la Cruz, and accompanied on stage by our school director, Antonio Portillo García. A special highlight of the evening was the solo performed by Mónica Carazo, a student from 6ºB, whose poise and musicality impressed the entire audience. Mónica also stepped forward to receive the commemorative plaque on behalf of Santa Gema Galgani during the official presentation ceremony.
Families filled the theatre, cheering on our students as they joined the programme of performances delivered by the seven participating schools. According to UCETAM’s organisation, each school presented one carol before all students gathered on stage for the final piece, the classic White Christmas .
Our pupils had been rehearsing diligently for more than a month and a half, and their hard work truly showed. It was an enriching artistic experience for them and a joyful way to welcome the Christmas season.
We are incredibly proud of their dedication and teamwork, and we hope to return to this wonderful festival again next year!
