In an exciting step toward environmental education and promoting sustainability, Santa Gema Galgani School has inaugurated its own school garden. An enthusiastic group of 5th and 6th grade students, members of the Environmental Committee, have taken the initiative to transform a space in the school into a vibrant outdoor learning laboratory.
This project goes beyond mere gardening; it is a comprehensive educational experience that allows students to immerse themselves in the world of sustainable agriculture. From soil preparation to harvesting, students actively participate in every step of the process, learning about the cycles of nature, the importance of fresh food and the impact of our actions on the environment.
Our school garden has become a veritable feast of colours: lettuce, chard and Pak Choi kale. But beyond vegetables, we are cultivating fundamental values such as teamwork, responsibility and respect for nature.
The main objective of this garden is to promote practical and meaningful environmental education. By growing their own food, students gain a first-hand understanding of ecological processes and the importance of caring for our planet. In addition, the garden promotes healthy habits and a deeper connection with nature.
This project gives the Environmental Committee the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life situations and share their passion for the environment with the whole educational community.
The Santa Gema Galgani School garden is a testament to the power of environmental education and the commitment of our students to a more sustainable future and we are excited that this project will continue to grow and flourish in the years to come!
We invite you to visit our school garden and follow our updates on the school blog.
Together, we can make a difference!
We sow knowledge, we reap awareness.
